Message from Mr. Steinberg

Good evening SAM Families!

I hope you set your clocks back last night as we head into some shorter days and colder nights!

Second quarter starts tomorrow and report cards are in our student portal on Friday. We will not be printing report cards for everyone. Again, we will not be printing report cards for everyone. Rather, you and your child can access the student portal at home and discuss their grades together. If you would like a printed version, please email or call our secretary, Mrs. Osborn, and she will be happy to provide that for you. For those students who have a D or an F on their first quarter grades, you will be receiving a phone call and email from me this week to make sure you meet with your child’s teachers on November 22nd or 23rd, or if you prefer, schedule a time before then to discuss that grade.

This message is directly from Mr. Ricker, our Dean of Students. He says as quarter one ends, we want to remind parents and students of some of the rules at Samoset. Beginning tomorrow, any student wearing a hood or hat in the building will receive a detention after school. Any student using their phone or has it taken by a staff member will require a parent to come pick it up at the end of the day. If you cannot pick it up for your child, we recommend keeping the phone at home. We understand it has been a difficult transition back to the school structure, but we have to have these rules followed to ensure safety and compliance amongst our students.

Check out this week’s email for our Samoset Stars of the 1st quarter, our Wildcat Winners and some more helpful hints from our Guidance staff and upcoming fundraisers from the PTO! Also, it is chilly in the morning - please try to send your child in with a jacket as we do want to keep using our outdoor areas for lunch and mask breaks will be outside as much as possible!

Thank you and have a great night!

Samoset School officially opened its doors to usher in the 1995-1996 school year. This year, we proudly celebrate our 27th anniversary! It is quite a different school year, as we begin in a remote format with the hope to return sometime in the late fall!

We welcome students in grades Six, Seven, and Eight.  Our school mascot is a Wildcat and our motto is “Wildcats C.A.R.E….we are Civil, we Achieve, we Respect, and we Encourage!”

It is our mission to provide opportunities for students to achieve their personal best, become responsible and productive citizens, and embrace lifelong learning in a safe and positive environment. We believe all children can learn and excel with developmentally appropriate materials, practices, and strategies.
