Wildcats C.A.R.E.

We are Civil, We Achieve, We are Respectful and We Encourage! Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day!

Message from Mr. Steinberg

Good evening SAM Families!

It certainly seems as though we are starting to inch back to normalcy in the building after a rough return due to a number of COVID cases in our community, however, we have a Spirit Week to celebrate!

Tomorrow is Flannel Day, Tuesday is Wonderful Shoe Day, Thursday is Throwback Thursday and Friday is Football Fan Friday! There’s some alliteration in there for everyone! If you noticed, I did not say Wednesday - there is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday due to professional development for staff. The homeroom with the largest percentage of spirit this week will win a prize so make sure your child participates!

We are having Spirit Week as we end the second quarter and begin the third quarter of our school year. Teachers will be finishing up their grades and beginning to input them into our grading system this week. Report Cards will be in the student portal by February 2nd, however, if you would like a copy of your child’s report card, please call our main office between 7 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday.

I hope that you carefully read the Superintendent’s email this morning about the change in our COVID testing policy. We will only be testing symptomatic individuals at Samoset beginning next week. We strongly encourage all of our SAM community to opt in to the home testing program and help us mitigate the spread within our school by testing at home and reporting that information to our nurse. Look for the Superintendent’s email regarding this new policy tomorrow. We will still be testing close contacts at Samoset throughout the rest of this week.

Finally, check our email home for this week’s Students of the Week and more helpful information from our Guidance department!

Samoset School officially opened its doors to usher in the 1995-1996 school year. This year, we proudly celebrate our 27th anniversary! It is quite a different school year, as we begin in a remote format with the hope to return sometime in the late fall!

We welcome students in grades Six, Seven, and Eight.  Our school mascot is a Wildcat and our motto is “Wildcats C.A.R.E….we are Civil, we Achieve, we Respect, and we Encourage!”

It is our mission to provide opportunities for students to achieve their personal best, become responsible and productive citizens, and embrace lifelong learning in a safe and positive environment. We believe all children can learn and excel with developmentally appropriate materials, practices, and strategies.
